A person’s smile
is often the first thing we notice when we meet them. Whether someone is openly smiley or whether they don’t smile plays a big part in what we think about them. Our own smile is something that’s very important too. Many people worry about their smile, how it looks to others
, and how other’s perceive them because of it.
can show so much without us even realizing it. A warm, genuine smile can communicate understanding, empathy, and emotion. A wide, confident smile tells other people that you’re sure of yourself and what you’re saying. This is just the start of it. What does your smile say about you?
Front teeth gaps
Having a gap between your front teeth is often seen as an attractive and quirky feature. Having a gap between your front teeth has long been associated with lustful characteristics. In some parts of Africa, having a gap here is believed to mean you are more fertile. So although you may be self-conscious of your gappy teeth know that it is linked with sensuality.
For those of you who have a prominent canine tooth or teeth, you may be more dominant in life. This links back to the cavemen when these teeth were used far more often. Prominent canine teeth are the mark of a carnivore, who are usually predators. So a fanged grin is often seen as a mark of a dominant and strong personality. But make sure your smile is genuine, as a cold smile may leave you looking more like Dracula.
Lots of teeth
If you appear to have lots of teeth, or quite large teeth, you are often perceived to be more successful. Having a crowded mouth is more likely to give you a fuller, wider smile – which people view as confident. However, having a wide grin means nothing unless the rest of the face is smiling too. A wide smile also gives the impression of being more open and willing to share. People with wider smiles are probably more likely to open up to you, and trust you more easily.
Bright and white
A bright, white smile is usually the mark of a perfectionist. A full set of straight, pearly whites will give the impression that appearance and self-image is important to that person. We usually think of a-list celebs when we think of white smiles, and these are the people who are usually perfectionists. In the western world, straight, white teeth have become the pinnacle of nice smile – so those who have so are usually striving for perfection in all aspects of their lives.
A lot of gum
Gummy smiles are also known as gingival smiles in when the upper gum above the teeth are showing. Showing this gum when you smile can give the impression of trustworthiness. This is because it can make you look more childlike, and children are often seen as innocent and trustworthy.
