When you see homes in movies or on TV shows, do you ever wonder who gets to live in them when it is not used for filming? Well, it turns out that with a little luck and a lot of money, it could be you! While some of these homes have been sitting on the market for years, others were scooped up the second they were listed. See how much it would cost to live like the characters in your favorite show or movie and, while some are insanely expensive - others are shockingly affordable.
1. Mrs. Doubtfire — $4.15 Million
Located in San Fransico, California, this Victorian home was used as the setting for Robin Williams' character's hilarious antics. In the 1993 comedy, the recently divorced actor-turned-nanny just wanted to spend time with his kids, so he dressed up as an old lady, naturally.
The gorgeous San Fran home sold in 2016 for $4.15 million, and fans still visit to pay tribute to the late actor. It features many of the original fixtures, and it overlooks the San Fransico Bay. After news of Williams' passing, fans created a memorial to him and his work on the steps of the house.
2. Breaking Bad — $230,300
Fans of the intense drama, Breaking Bad, starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul, have been known to come to visit the New Mexico home and recreate scenes or hold up bags of fake blue meth for photos. However, the actual homeowners were not particularly happy about this.
At the peak of its popularity, the house was getting about 200 visitors per day. The owner, Francis Padilla, and his family were naturally overwhelmed because people would throw pizza on their roof to recreate a famous scene from the show, so he built a six-foot fence around the house.
3. Breakfast At Tiffany’s — $7.4 Million
Although the Upper East Side brownstone interior wasn't used in the film, the outside was made famous in Breakfast At Tiffany's. Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard stood outside this 2,880 square-foot apartment that sold in 2015 for $7.4 million.
Although Audrey fans will be disappointed to find out it is not for sale currently, you can still walk by the iconic home. Since the film was released, the brownstone has undergone two renovations in the '80s and '90s; however, the exterior has remained the same.
4. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air — $8.8 Million
For anyone who wants to live out their Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fantasy, you are in luck. The $8.8 million mansion is listed on Airbnb for only $30 per night. Surprisingly, the house isn't actually in Bel-Air, but a neighboring community called Brentwood.
The lavish mansion where Will moves in with his aunt, uncle, and cousins has five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a pool, and plenty of Fresh Prince memorabilia, but not in a tacky way. It really is a place fit for a prince.
5. Home Alone — $1.6 Million
It's not even up for debate that Home Alone is one of the best Christmas movies that has ever been made. And what would the movie be without the iconic home itself? Located in Winnetka, Illinois, the 4,343 square-foot home is just as beautiful as it was when we first saw it appear on screen.
Since 1991, when the movie was made, the house has been refurbished and remodeled, but it still has the same charm. It went on the market in 2011 and sold a year later for $1,611,069. The sale gained international attention, and some lucky person gets to live out their Christmas fantasy every single day.
6. Father Of The Bride — $2.3 Million
Father of the Bride starred Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, but the real scene-stealer was their gorgeous home. From the memorable basketball scene to the backyard wedding, we couldn't take our eyes off this dream-worthy California house. However, it is currently off the market.
The home comes with a wet bar, barbecue area, and the original basketball hoop from the film. While we were disappointed to find this out, the exterior shots from the film were from a completely different house in Pasadena. However, Zillow reported that this house is still worth a cool $2.3 million.
7. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off — $1.06 Million
This is one of the most recognizable homes in Hollywood history; the famous Highland Park, Illinois mansion used in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is like a museum. The iconic film starring Matthew Broderick describes the house as cold, like you aren't allowed to touch anything.
Throughout the years, fans have come from far and wide to see the famous home where Cameron smashed his father's Ferarri through one of the windows in a bid to lower the mileage. In 2017, the house underwent a total renovation, and it is now worth $1.06 million.
8. Sex And The City — $9.85 Million
We don't know what column Carrie Bradshaw was writing for, but they must pay an insanely high salary. The iconic apartment that everyone envied is actually not located on the Upper East Side as it says in the show. It is actually in the West Village.
The stunning brownstone in which Carrie's apartment was supposed to be located was listed in 2012 for $9.65 million, and it shockingly sold for $200,000 over the asking price. The person must have really wanted to live out their Sex and the City fantasy.
9. The Notebook — $1.277 Million
When Noah built Allie a house in The Notebook, even though they weren't together and she was about to marry someone else, we finally knew what true love was all about. Luckily for hopeless romantics everywhere, you can visit the house from the movie in South Carolina.
Located among the homes in Martins Point Plantation, the 900-acre property features five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and lots of space, but Ryan Gosling didn't actually build it. According to realtors, the house is estimated to be worth $1.227 million even though it is not currently for sale.
10. Friends — $3,495/Month
Like many people out there, we are huge fans of Friends, but seeing this price to rent Monica's apartment was a serious reality check. Rachel and Monica had the apartment for a ridiculous $200/month because it was rent-controlled, but that is not realistic in any part of New York City.
The apartment building used for the exterior shots has units for close to $3,495/month, which Rachel and Monica could probably never afford, considering they spent most of their time sitting in a coffee house rather than working.
11. The Goonies House — $327,400
There isn't a better movie to describe the '80s than The Goonies. Starring Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, Martha Plimpton, the film follows the story of the boys trying to save their home from land developers. Because of the movie, the home gets a large amount of traffic.
For the 15th anniversary in 2015, about 10,000 to 15,000 fans visited the iconic home. While the 1,935 square foot home with a wrap-around porch is not for sale, Realtor.com estimates its worth at $327,400. Who wouldn't want to live in this '80s classic house?
12. Rosebud Motel From Schitt’s Creek — $1.6 Million
Schitt's Creek has to be one of the funniest shows that has graced our televisions in recent years. Eugene Levy and his son Daniel Levy co-created the show about a rich family that loses everything and has to start over in the town they bought as a joke birthday gift.
The Rosebud Motel, where the show is mainly filmed, is actually located in Ontario, Canada. Some lucky fan could be the owner because it is on the market right now for $1.6 million. The motel features six apartments as well as a manager's unit plus 6.7 acres of land.
13. Billy Madison — Not For Sale
Sadly, this is the only house on the list that will never be available to purchase because Canada has made it a historical landmark. The Parkwood estate would make anyone repeat grades 1-12 to inherit this, plus a grand fortune. With 55 rooms and 15,000 square feet, it has plenty of space for filming.
Not only was it in Billy Madison, but it was also featured in X-Men and Amelia; therefore, it is not available for fans to buy, but you can visit the property and live out your favorite movie fantasy.
14. The Exorcist — $3.7 Million
While we know it is just a movie, and the actual exorcism that the film was based on took place elsewhere, it's still hard to imagine anyone living here peacefully. The 2,800 square foot home is located in Washington DC and features three bedrooms.
The property last sold for $2 million in 2003, and because of appreciation over the years, it is now valued at $3.7 million. The actual house where the exorcism occurred was in St. Louis, Missouri, so there is no need to be afraid of this location.
15. Modern Family — $2.15 Million
While Modern Family features a few different homes, the home of everyone's favorite couple, Claire and Phil Dunphey, recently sold in 2014 for $2.15 million. The two-story home has a lovely dining room, open kitchen, and a family room that opens into the garden.
Not surprisingly, the camera crew only filmed the exterior of the home located on Dunleer Drive in LA. All the interior scenes were filmed on a sound stage like most shows, but like us, you probably couldn't tell the difference.
16. Boy Meets World — $1.299 Million
Anyone who grew up in the '90s can look back and remember the relatable likes of Corey Matthews in Boy Meets World. He went to school, hung out with his friends, fell in love, and lived a typical life in this gorgeous home. In fact, the house used for the exterior shots was very close to the lot where the show was filmed.
While the house is a little smaller than it seemed on TV, the 2,108 square foot home only has two bedrooms, but it sold in 2016 for $1.299 million. The actual home probably wouldn't have been suitable for the Matthews family, but that's the magic of Hollywood.
17. The Golden Girls — $3.2 Million
While we hate to be the one to break the bad news, the home used for the iconic sitcom Golden Girls wasn't actually located in Miami; it is in California. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom ranch isn't far from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air's house, and it was recently valued at $3.2 million.
While it might be hard for most people to afford the original Golden Girls house, fans can get their fix on the Golden Girls-themed cruise. It was supposed to set sail in February 2020; however, due to you-know-what, it has been delayed and hopefully will reopen for booking soon.
18. Poltergeist — $786,570
The house where Poltergeist was filmed was built in 1979 just in time for Steven Spielberg to use it for his movie. The horror movie famously revolves around a family's home that gets haunted by demonic ghosts. Spielberg liked the house because it was at the end of the road and looked normal.
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom, and hopefully zero ghosts home was recently valued at $786,570 by a real estate broker. Although the movie is fairly old now, it still attracts tourists to the place.
19. The Brady Bunch — 3.5 Million
Just hearing the famous Brady Bunch theme song will transport you back to a simpler time. The show following the blended family took place in this 2,477 square-foot home with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. HGTV recently bought it for $3.5 million.
The network purchased the home for the series A Very Brady Renovation. HGTV renovated the inside and part of the exterior to modernize it without losing the iconic flare. It's definitely a home you probably wouldn't find anywhere else.
20. Full House — $4 Million
Located in San Fransisco, The Full House Victorian home famously hosted the entire Tanner clan plus a few house guests. It was built in the 1800s, and one of the previous owners painted it dark purple to deter Full House fans from visiting. However, it was sold in 2016 for $4 million.
The lucky buyer was the original creator of the show, Jeff Franklin. He decided to restore the four-bedroom, four-bath home to its original Full House state, including the grey exterior and red front door. Surprisingly, the home wasn't used for the reboot, Fuller House.
21. Buffy The Vampire Slayer — $991,450
As teenagers, Sarah Michelle Gellar was our hero with her cool moves in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The home where Buffy lived with her mom and sister is currently valued at $991,450, and it is just a few blocks away from Torrence High School, where the exterior was used for the show.

22. Sleepless In Seattle — $2 Million
The boathouse used in the classic film, Sleepless in Seattle featuring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan sits right on Seattle's Lake Union. The owners of the 2,200 square-foot home owned it for about 21 years before they sold it in 2014 for $2 million, according to Country Living Magazine.
The romantic comedy was filmed on this scenic lake, but it wasn't the only '90s film making use of the Seattle scenery. Say Anything and Singles were also filmed in this area, and two out of the three Fifty Shades of Grey used the Emerald City.
23. Twilight — $363,000
Compared to some of the other homes on this list, the house used in the first Twilight movie is actually a steal. Located in Saint Helens, Oregon, Kristen Stewart's character shared this house with her dad and her occasional vampire boyfriend. The modest home was built in 1935 with a view of the Columbus River.
Most recently, the house sold in 2018 for $363,000, and fans can spend the night. The owner uses the house as an Airbnb destination for $330 per night. Fans can connect with their inner Bella Swan and live the Twilight fantasy.
24. Richie Rich’s House — $300 Million
In the 1994 classic Richie Rich, there wasn't a child who didn't envy McCauley Culkin's mansion in the film. He had his own McDonald's, and if that doesn't say wealth, we don't know what does. However, in real life, there isn't a fast-food restaurant at this estate.
The home used for Richie Rich was the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina. The 250-room mansion is the largest private residence in the United States and has 8,000 acres of land. There are restaurants and hotels on the grounds to support tourists who want to view the estate, and it is owned by America's wealthiest family, the Vanderbilts.
25. Sixteen Candles — $1.135 Million
The home of Molly Ringwald's character in Sixteen Candles had major curb appeal even back in the '80s when the film hit theaters. According to Zillow, the Evanston, Illinois home has six bedrooms and five bathrooms and sold in 2018 for $1.135 million.
As fans of the teenage classic, the home was the setting where everyone forgot Samantha's sixteenth birthday, which set off a chain of events full of teenage angst. The perfectly manicured lawn and spacious yard would be the perfect place for a party.
26. A Nightmare on Elm Street — $2.1 Million
While we don't know many people who would want to live in the home of a horror movie, but some people love that stuff. The house used for A Nightmare on Elm Street might not be located on Elm Street, and it doesn't have the original blue door, but it is still the same scary place.
In 2012, some brave soul snatched up this home for $2.1 million. The quaint house features three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, a pool, and a guest house. If you aren't too afraid of Freddy Kruger, it seems like a nice place to live.
27. Scarface — $12 Million
Say hello to my not-so-little friend. The iconic mansion from Scarface is probably one of the most beautiful homes we have ever seen, and it is not actually located in Miami like the movie described. It is in Santa Barbara, California, and has 10,000 square feet of space.
Because of the film's huge success, the owner tried to add a premium to the estate's price and listed it for $35 million in 2014. However, they couldn't find any takers for the ridiculous price, and it ended up selling for $12 million a year after it was listed.
28. Steel Magnolias — $535,700

Even for expensive Malibu standards, the typical house price in this area is $3-4 million. However, the property last sold in 2006 for $15 million, but it is estimated to be worth $10 million in recent years. It is still a mystery how they got such a high price for the home.
30. American Horror Story: Murder House — $3.2 Million
While it has a terrifying name on TV, the American Horror Story: Murder House is actually a stunning 10,000 square-foot mansion built by Alfred Rosenheim in 1908. Located in LA, the Tudor-style mansion sold in 2015 for $3.2 million.
Not only was the estate used in AHS, but it may also look familiar to viewers because it was featured in Grey's Anatomy, Californication, and The Mentalist. With its beautiful high ceilings, stained glass windows, and six fireplaces, it's no wonder that it is a popular filming home.

Although it is not for sale, the house featured in Roseanne is estimated at a bargain price of just $127,800. The home features four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and 1,912 square feet of living space. 32. Six Feet Under — $1.49 Million
It's hard to believe that it has been 20 years since Six Feet Under first premiered on HBO. Based on the lives of the Fisher family, the LA home was used for exterior shots as the setting of the Fisher Family business. In the show, it was a funeral home, but people actually live there.

35. Groundhog’s Day — $645,000
If you watched Groundhog's Day, you probably remember seeing the Victorian-style home over and over again because of the time loop Bill Murray's character is stuck in. The home is a bed-and-breakfast in the movie and in real life so that you can stay there too.
The B&B was built in 1895 and operates as a cute little inn in Woodstock, Illinois. Whether you are looking to buy a piece of movie history or you want to turn the place into a family home, it will cost you around $645,000, according to a recent listing.
34. The Money Pit — $4.5 Million

36. Happy Days — $2.6 Million
While the show Happy Days is set in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the house used for the exterior shots is actually in California, a few blocks from the Paramount lot on Melrose Ave. The famous home features six bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a lot of living space.

37. Amityville Horror — $850,000
Amityville Horror is based on the real crimes of Ronald DeFeo Jr. after he shot and killed six members of his family in Amityville, Long Island. Apparently, the family haunts the house, which is the premise of the film, and if you are brave enough, you could live in the house too.
The Amityville house hit the market in 2016 for $850,000. It features five bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and possible spirits from the other side. One anonymous brave buyer ended up buying it for $200,000 under the asking price, and we wonder how many ghosts they have encountered since moving in.

39. Sabrina, The Teenage Witch — $608,400
While there have been a few different versions of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, from the cartoon version to the new Netflix series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, nothing compares to the original series starring Melissa Joan Hart as Sabrina Spellman.

40. 10 Things I Hate About You — $1.655 Million

The spacious home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and 5,500 square feet of space.
Depending on how you look at it, the best or worst part of the house is the 298 acres of property with no neighbors in sight. Luckily for the owners, the estate is in demand for weddings and parties, so rarely are they alone on the property.
42. The Sopranos Home — $3.4 Million
Who can forget all the times Tony Soprano picked up the newspaper in his bathrobe and slippers. The North Caldwell, New Jersey home where all the exterior shots were filmed is still in perfect shape. However, the interior shots were taken in a studio.
Surprisingly, the owners of the home are incredibly private, and they put the house up for sale in 2019 for $3.4 million. They owned it since 1987, but it seems they had enough of people driving by and disturbing their peace and quiet.
43. The Friday Night Lights House — $491,000
Coach Taylor's Texas home is welcoming, traditional, and worth a reasonable $491,000.
